Back on Beech Creek Coming Fall 2026!
“I am a daughter of the Beech Mountain Community. While researching traditional singing here at home for my dissertation, I realized how few tradition bearers of old-time Beech Mountain music remain with us. I designed this album to get some of the old songs of Beech Mountain back into the ears and minds of community members of all ages and let listeners hear that they are alive and well in at least one young Beech Creek person. In playing the guitar instead of the more traditional mountain dulcimer or banjo—both wonderful parts of Beech Mountain heritage—I aim to show how these living, breathing singing traditions are still changing to suit the contexts around us today. I hope they will be enjoyed and learned by many for years to come.”
